Explaining the GT11 DKP procedure and site

Contents

What is DKP

Too easy to just link to the wowwiki to explain DKP: http://www.wowwiki.com/Dragon_kill_points

DKP Site

Our DKP site can be found at http://dkp.gt11.eu

Site login

You log into the DKP site using your forum login. Note that the username is case sensitive and that this is different from the forum. Of course the password is case sensitive as well.

Character import

As you sign up for raids using your ingame character, these must be linked to your DKP site login. To add your character(s) follow these steps:

  • Log in to the site
  • Click 'Settings' under EQDKP
  • Click 'Manage Character'
  • Click 'Add Character'
  • Select the 'Import' tab and click 'Import'
  • Click 'Continue'
  • Enter your character name and click 'Continue'
  • Check the box 'Take this char as yours' and click import

Now you can close the popup windows and your character listing will be updated.

Raid Planner

The raid planner found at http://dkp.gt11.eu/plugins/raidplan/listraids.php is used to both organise and sign up for raids.

Organising a raid

If you want to organise a raid you pick a day you'd like to go in the calender a popup screen will appear. Make sure to plan well in advance so people have a good chance to sign up.

  • In the popup enter the following data:
    • The correct event (current options: Naxxramas, Obsidian Sanctum, Eye of Eternity, Ulduar, Onyxia, Trial of the Crusader and the Vault of Archavon. Don't use T7 Starting DKP!)
    • The number of healers, tanks and dps (usually 2, 2, 6 or 3, 2, 5)
    • Who'll lead the raid
    • Signup deadline, invite, start and end time.
For the deadline, use this guideline (as discussed here):
- If you plan the raid 4 or more days before it's going to take place,
put up the deadline 24 hours before the run.
- If you plan the raid less then 4 days before it's going to take place,
put up the deadline 30 minutes before the start of the run.
  • Click 'Add Raid'
  • Don't forget to sign up for your raid, see next section on how to do that

You can also select a template which enters all these value. With the template you'll have to adjust the raidleader though.

Signing up

All raids which can be signed up for, can be seen in the calender[[1]] and in the sidebar window 'Next Raid'. To sign up for the raid follow these steps:

  • Click the raid you'd like to join
  • Scroll down to the dropdown boxes
  • Select the character you'd like to raid with
  • Select the roll your character can fulfil.
  • Then select to 'Sign up' or be 'Unsure' and click 'Update'

If you'd like to add a note to let the raidleader know you can also join as an alternative character if the need arises, click the little icon next to your characters name.

note: Always sign up with your preferred character!

DKP

DKP is obtained through raiding and spend on gear via auctions. DKP is character bound and can only be used on items for that character. If BOE items drop and you can use them on another character, these items will be auctioned via an alternative method so everyone has a chance to bid.

Tiered DKP

DKP earnings are tiered. This means that you'll need to run a certain tier of instances to gain DKP for that tier.

Current tier(s):

  • Tier 7
    • Naxxramas
    • Obsidian Sanctum
    • Eye of Eternity
  • Tier 8
    • Ulduar
    • Onyxia
  • Tier 9
    • Trial of the Crusader
    • Trial of the Grand Crusader

Earning DKP

Starting DKP:

  • Upon becoming Trialist - 5 DKP
  • Upon becoming Member - another 5 DKP

Earning DKP in raids:

  • 2 for appearing at the start time at the summon stone, repaired, prepared
  • 0 per hour farming
  • 2 per hour learning
  • 1 farm boss kill
  • 2 learning boss kill
  • 4 for the first time a boss is killed by our guild

If and when an instance, wing or boss is declared farm is of course something to be discussed and that'll be done via the forum when the time is there.

The hours are rounded when raiding for less then a full hour. E.g. 5 minutes equals 0 DKP, 35 minutes equals 2 DKP when leaning

Standby

To be eligible for standby DKP you:

  • Sign up via the Raid Planner
  • Appear at the summon stone at start time
  • Let the raidleader know you'd like to be on standby duty in case you're outrolled
  • Be online on any character for full the duration of the raid
  • Be ready to raid at a moments notice, so you can choose to play on your signed char or another character as long as you don't engage in long-term activities, like an instance run

When on standby you earn the same amount of DKP as the people actually in the raid instance.

Spending DKP

In raids the designated DKP administrator will auction all items of blue quality and up. BOP items are auctioned immediately, BOE's right after the next boss, or at the end of the raid, whatever comes first.

First he'll announce what item is under auction, then the timer starts. Everyone can then whisper that person with 'bid #amount'. The bids are announced in raidchat. When the timer runs out, the final highest bidder wins the item and the DKP is deducted from his total.

Example:

DKP administrator: Auctioning Thundering sword of awesomeness minbid 0
Player1 whisper DKP administrator: bid 0
DKP administrator raidchats: Player 1 bid 0
Player2 whisper DKP administrator: bid 1
DKP administrator raidchats: Player 2 bid 1
Player1 whisper DKP administrator: bid 5
DKP administrator raidchats: Player 1 bid 5
Player2 whisper DKP administrator: bid 4
DKP administrator whispers Player 2: current bid is 5, bid higher
Player2 whisper DKP administrator: bid 10
DKP administrator raidchats: Player 2 bid 10
Player1 whisper DKP administrator: bid 11
DKP administrator whispers Player 1: can't bid 11 your dkp pool is 8
 ...
 wait
 ...
DKP administrator: Player 2 wins Thundering sword of awesomeness for 10 DKP

Bidding guidelines

These are mere guidelines and not actual rules we'll enforce:

  • Greed bids start at 0, need bids at 1, to indicate you're greeding something or actual need it
  • Try to avoid outbidding a needbid with a greedbid
  • Be mindful of armor type, there should be a plate/mail/leather option for your spec available
  • Consider how much of an upgrade something would be when compared to someone else

Wildcards

When you signed up for a raid but get outrolled or switched out due to raid balance, you earn yourself a wildcard. Be sure to be online at invite time though to see if you're actually needed or not. You can only have one wildcard at any time.

The wildcard is automatically used the next time you sign up for a raid and adds 100 to your roll.

BOE auctions

With the increased amount of pretty nifty BOE's dropping from raids, they'll eventually end up in the guildbank as the people in the raid don't need them. To obtain these items we'll have auctions every now and then, where you can pick and choose which character you'd like the item for and bid with that characters DKP.

This subject is still under discussion and this section will be updated with the outcome.

Leaving a raid

If you have to leave a raid all of a sudden, notify the raidleader as soon as possible, so he can call upon people on standby to replace you. When leaving a raid you'll only get credit for the time and bosses you were there for.

Alternative characters

If you're asked to play something else then your preferred character, notify the DKP admninistrator on who should receive the DKP you earn that run. Spend DKP will be deducted from the character who obtained an item though.

DKP administration

For this to work you need certain DKP site rights, if you're a DKP administrator, and any of the tasks fail, contact Grimjaw, Mereneth or Ithor.

Adding a raid

When adding a raid from the raidplanner:

  • Click options
  • Select transform to raid
  • Select which group of people to add as attendees
  • Go into the administration Panel and select List raids from the admin menu
  • Select the raid to edit
  • Fill the comment and the DKP value
  • Add a note stating how the DKP was earned, who was on standby and who was asked to switch
  • Adjust the attendees:

Adding raiders

If people switched to another character or were on standby add them to the raid via clicking their name.

Adding items

  • Go into the administration Panel and select Add from the item admin menu
  • Select the winner
  • Select the raid
  • Enter the correct item, either by looking for an existing item, or by entering a new one
  • Enter the DKP value
  • After adding everything check in the regular raid view if the correct names were used, else you'll have to edit them via the admin interface

Individual adjustments
